at long last!

So wow, you are the most patient people in the world.  Have to be.  That's why I love you, my dear readers, so much...you have all those qualities I don't (wink).

But the wait is over!

Introducing Postmark LA.  What began as a group of creatives chatting about doing a 'zine that eventually turned into a 69-page full-color book.  Every page is so full and brimming with photos and ideas and patterns and well, lovely lovely stuff.  I'm just so proud of this new baby of ours.  Ours being none other than Charlotte Lyons, Teresa McFayden, Pam Garrison, Carolyn Peeler, Amy Hanna and myself.

Oh, I hope you like it!  I really do.  We've worked long and hard and diligently, treating each page with so much attention and care...thinking of you all the while.

Well, go ahead, order your copy and let us know what you think...

mommy-style love

When I think of my mom, shown here at her piano recital around age 12 (no secret where I get my long skinny arms!), I think of I Corinthians 13...

Love is patient and kind.

Love is not jealous or boastful or proud or rude.

Love does not demand its own way.

Love is not irritable and it keeps no record of being wronged.

Love does not rejoice about injustice but rejoices whenever the truth wins out.

Love never gives up, never loses faith, is always hopeful, and endures through every circumstance . . .

Three things will last forever—faith, hope, and love—and the greatest of these is love.

Make this year the year that Mother's Day isn't all about what your kids and husband are going to do for you, but about what you can do for your mom.  She deserves it!

he thinks it's funny

Someone tell my husband to stop doing this or I'm going to hang frilly pink curtains in his macho-man workshop.  That'll teach him where to hang his nasty work cap.

stepping toward better

Was flipping through an old magazine this morning and saw these words...

"every step you take

       is a step away

       from where you used to be"

And so I'm thinking a step away from where I used to be could be good or it could be bad.

My faith, my family, my friends, my future, my legacy, my thoughts, my health, my time, my commitments...can all benefit from my conscious decision to make each step better, more purposeful and true.  It's all about choosing to do so, huh?

May your day be a beautiful step forward.

Meet Maybelle.  Our new baby.

Drove over to meet Bernie from A Place to Bark where I adopted our family's newest member.  She is one of six kittens from a mommy cat Bernie rescued.  Oh and she's the sweetest little furball...and adventuresome, she's already explored every nook and cranny of our house.  Of course, when the dogs saw me bring her in I got a big eyeroll from them (oh brother, a cat!).

Thanks Bernie!!

Oh and thank you for checking back about the surprise my friends and I have up our sleeve...sorry to leave you hanging!  But we're really, really close, scout's honor.
